Saw You In A Dream - The Japanese House 8. come out and play - Billie Eilish 9. Sunflower - Swae Lee and Post Malone 10. Good Years - Zayn The 1975 definitely came back with a boom. I have been listening nonstop since this album came out, waiting two years for their come back was anticipating, and well worth the wait. A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships gives listeners the emotions of love, power, and action. Give Yourself A Try came out as a powerful single, criticizing and questioning the motives of today's generation of youth. To go along with a similar topic, social injustices and action, Love It If We Made It encompasses an extreme call to action towards several of today's world social injustices and how we seem to simply ignore them as a society. This album not only talks about these topics, but also love. A The 1975 album would not be a The 1975 album without this topic. Sincerity Is Scary was ultimately my favorite song off the album, giving happy indie vibes that you can dance along to. It's Not Living (If Its Not With You) is a close second, with its exciting pop-rock 80's feels. Ultimately, this album is one of the best to come out in 2018, and I bought tickets to their concert in May as soon as I heard it. Japanese-American artist Joji recently released his new album Ballads1 and it did not disappoint one bit. Complimenting his hit single "SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK", the rest of the album carries the same dark vibes that the single has. With hints of r&b and hip-hop incorporated into songs such as "TEST DRIVE" and "Come Thru", Joji expresses his variety as an artist coming up. The album gives that gloomy, yet groovy vibe that will lead to you and your friends singing your hearts out to the soothing vibes this album gives off. Overall, my personal favorite songs off the album are "NO FUN" and "TEST DRIVE". This album is one of the most intriguing to come out this year, ringing a sound unfamiliar to the typical pop hits of 2018. 1. Vertigo by Khalid
2. Test Drive by Joji 3. When the party's over by Billie Eilish 4. I Do Love U by MONSTA X 5. Epiphany by BTS 6. Suncity by Khalid 7. SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK by Joji 8. Trip by Ella Mai 9. Waste It On Me by Steve Aoki ft. BTS 10. Broken by lovely the band - I Like America and America Likes Me
- I Always Wanna Die (Sometimes) - If I Believe You - TOOTIMETOOTIME - Robbers - Girls - Paris - The Sound - This Must Be My Dream - Give Yourself A Try Korean-American artist Jay Park is not your average k-pop star. Although he may dabble in a little pop here and there, Park likes to maintain his focus on more r&b vibes in his discography. Listening to his most popular singles, I instantly fell in love with the guidance of my ears and soul. He is everything an artist should have, soothing vocals, ground-breaking dance moves, and nice video visuals. I first fell in love with his single Yacht, where in both English and Korean he expresses his eagerness to take a girl out on a wild tropical vacation. The song makes you wanna sway, and then break into dance, just as Jay Park does in his videos. All I Wanna Do is the one I fell victim to of course, the song was made for hype and hip-hop dancing. The song V might be the grooviest one yet, which incorporates a bit of Brazilian funk into it. He produces music with various interesting twists, which do attract listeners from Korea and the Western world. The fact that Jay incorporates both English and Korean in his music makes him easy to listen to, and he uses the influences of western-style music on his own, which is mainly based in South Korea. With all these characteristics flowing, Jay Park will surely remain on my music radar for a while, and he should be on yours too. I am always up to date with Khalid's new singles, knowing him as an artist that makes consistently good songs and the creator of the iconic album American Teen. He came out with this new R&B single called Better, featuring no one, which is the best feature for an artist like him. Better is a laid-back, almost dance-inducing song that will calm your nerves even at the most stressful moment. For a second, I even feel like I'm on a long road trip with my friends on a summer night, just jamming along to whatever comes on the radio. After his single with Normani, Love Lies, which I was personally not impressed by, this song rejuvenated my hype for his music. This song introduced the perfect end to the hot weather, and it will make its way into the cold, long days and nights as well. This song will have its own special place in my playlist for the rest of the year. With his new album coming out in the next few days, Better leads me to believe that this next album will be a huge success. The K-Pop music industry has been booming in success over the last few years, and I have never found enough interest in the genre to actually listen to it. For the past week or so, I got tired of listening to the same old music in my playlist, and decided to give the genre a try. To be honest I had no idea how this would turn out: firstly, I do not speak or understand Korean. Secondly, I'm not the biggest fan of bubblegum-pop. It's like listening to the Up All Night album by One Direction in 2012 all over again. With these thoughts in mind, I still considered to give it a listen because it never hurts to try out something new. I started out with the girl-group BLACKPINK, and I really enjoyed listening to the energetic, electronic song As If Its Your Last. Their music videos were really cool in addition to their catchy tunes. I moved onto the insanely popular boy-group called BTS. I ended adding a few of their songs onto my playlist, such as Euphoria. I did not like their recent single with Nicki Minaj called IDOL though, it was just not my taste. Overall, my first time listening to k-pop was more positive than negative, and I will continue to keep up with these artists and many more. |
AuthorMy name is Angela and my life revolves around music. I realized that a song could tell a million stories, even multiple at the same time. My passion for it continues to grow every single day, and I want to share my personal feelings about modern music and my particular taste in it. Another day another song. Archives
